Local Teen Killed on Vacation
ORLANDO, Fla. (June 17, 2012)---The parents of a Killeen High School graduate Dino Cannon, 18, who was shot to death outside of a nightclub in Orlando, Fla., are asking for the public's help in finding out what happened to their son.
Cannon, 18, a Killeen High School football standout who graduated on June 3, was shot to death early Friday morning outside Club Limelight in Orlando, where his family was on vacation, celebrating his graduation.
His family made a tearful plea for information Saturday.
Orlando police said Cannon and another man got into a fight the club earlier.
The man was escorted out of the club, police said, but waited outside for Cannon to leave.
Cannon was shot at around 2:30 a.m. Friday as he walked in the club?s parking lot and later died at Orlando Regional Medical Center, police said.
No arrests have been made.
Cannon's parents are asking anyone who may have seen the fight or shooting to come forward to police.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.
Cannon planned to attend Prairie View A&M University this fall and major in computer science, relatives said.
He was the last of his family?s five children to graduate from Killeen High School.
Killeen High School head football coach and athletic coordinator Sam Jones called Cannon, ?A great representative of the Roo athletic program.?
?But he was an even better friend and teammate and he will be missed greatly,? Jones said.
?Our thoughts and prayers from the Roo family go out to his family at this time.?
The Killeen ISD was notified of Cannon?s death Friday.
?Our thoughts and prayers are with Dino?s family right now,? district spokeswoman Leslie Gilmore said.
Counselors were available Friday at the high school.
